DESCRIPTION:Join Tees Archaeology on a dig at Heighington Station this September\, as part of the FoSDR Festival. Uncover the past and learn new skills. \n\n\n\nThis is an exciting opportunity to be part of the Festival of the Stockton and Darlington Railway. In the first two weeks of September\, Tees Archaeology will be doing a community excavation at Heighington Station\, the oldest passenger station in the world! \nYou don’t need any prior experience…just come along and join in with the dig. We provide all tools\, gloves\, water\, hot drinks and our famous Scooby snacks 🙂 \nYou just need sturdy footwear\, a raincoat\, a packed lunch and a good sense of fun. \nBooking is essential due to limits on number of participants. Learn about the long campaign for Barnard Castle to be connected to the railway against opposition from powerful landowners\, great engineering feats and connections to disaster and war. \nThe walk starts and finishes outside the entrance to the castle behind Barnard Castle Methodist Church on Galgate.
