DESCRIPTION:17 August (Thursday) – Visit to Tanfield Railway. \nArrive 10.30am at Andrews House car park. \nTour of yard area\, shed\, workshops\, etc. (toilets available in carriage shed) \nBuffet lunch in Andrews House Station (toilets available) \nGuided walk along the track from Andrews House to Causey. \nSee waggonway interpretation site and Causey Arch. \nContinue to East Tanfield Station and on the way see site of Engine house archaeological dig. \nhttps://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tanfield_Railway \nThe wearing of stout footwear is advisable and clothes you don’t mind getting dirty. \nAnyone who does not want to walk can see inside the signal box and have extra time at Marley Hill. \nFor those attending I suggest we make a donation towards the cost of the buffet – Tanfield Railway is a registered charity. \nThis event is being organised for the Friends by Angela Pickering who is the “Bright Spark” at Tanfield Railway.
