Free Guided Walk: Gaunless Bridge Walk

Meeting outside the Well Cafe in West Auckland, this walk will cover the original site of the Gaunless Bridge before following the S&DR over the inclines to Shildon to see the preserved bridge, with a stop at Broom Mill Cafe.6.4 miles, some moderate gradients and stiles.

An Exhibition by the North Eastern Railway Association (NERA) of photographs’  accompanied by memorabilia, maps & documents from the Library.  The Exhibition will open on Heritage Open Days: Friday 12th Tuesday-16th September 2025, 10am-3pm; will continue Mondays & Tuesdays through September 10.30am-2.30pm.
